5 Free Social VR Games You Can Play Right Now
Like playing VR but want something that has a little more than what a normal VR game has, like a way to connect with people without the expectation of playing a game?
Below you will find a list of "Social" VR Games, places you can go to connect and have fun with other VR users from across the world!
VRChat

Starting at number 1 is VRChat, VRChat is a social VR game that lets you have a custom avatar, use a mic or text-based communication, and more. The platform uses a "worlds" system, so you have a home world that you start out in, and then there are other worlds you can join that have people in them you can interact with!
Quote: "Create a Universe of Endless Possibilities". VRChat really is a basket of endless possibilities. You can even create entirely custom models in Blender and Unity and upload them to VRChat; some users even have a real-life 3D scan of themselves as their model!
VRChat is available on Steam, Quest, Pico, Viveport, and Google Play for mobile devices.
Rec Room

For game number 2, we have Rec Room! Rec Room is like VRChat, but it has a more or less serious approach and targets a younger audience. Rec Room has a similar system to the VRChat worlds, but they are called "Rooms" in this case.
Rec Room lets you customize your character like but they're not fully realistic and have more of a cartoony look to the models. In this game, you can't upload custom models that you created from the ground up.
Rec Room is great if you want to socialize, but at the same time, lean more towards gaming too.
Rec Room is available on Steam, IOS, Android, Quest, Pico, Switch, Xbox, PlayStation, and Standalone Windows.
Resonite

At number 3, we have Resonite! Resonite is pretty similar to VRChat, but with some powerful features of its own. Instead of having to make worlds in Blender and Unity, everything can be made and designed in-game!
Resonite has the same sort of layout as far as the "worlds" system, like VRChat. What really makes it different is the amount of creativity you can express in-game. Not having to go into flatscreen mode and open up another program to create is really something unique!
Resonite is available on Steam.
ChilloutVR

For number 4, it's ChilloutVR! ChilloutVR is essentially a clone of VRChat, originally getting popular as a VRChat alternative during moments of drama being sparked on VRChat. It offers mostly everything VRChat has to offer in terms of being able to create worlds, make your own avatars, etc.
ChilloutVR has a much smaller community, so if you want something less chaotic and bumbling, then this might be one to check out!
ChilloutVR is available on Steam.
Cluster

For the last one, we have Cluster! Cluster is another, well, VRChat clone. With VRChat being the most popular social VR game of its kind, many other games take a LOT of inspiration from it. What makes Cluster a bit different is its audience, the company behind Cluster is based in Japan, so Japanese users mainly make up Cluster's audience.
Cluster is described as "A space where up to 100,000 people can connect simultaneously, It has a rich track record as a BtoB platform.", So it has the capability to hold many players at once, and they also use it as a Business-to-Business platform.
Cluster is available on IOS, Android, Quest, Windows, and Mac.
